Everybody,
I am very pleased to tell you that the defibrillator donated to us 6 years ago by the East Anglian Ambulance Service is going to be installed in the unused BT box on the village triangle.
This means that we will have life saving equipment at the heart of the village. It will be linked to the Ambulance Service in the event of an emergency.
It will be installed in partnership with the Heartbeat Community Trust charity. They will provide us with training, information and guidance on its use and the maintenance and safety of the machine.
I will keep you in touch with the roll out of the programme.
There are some costs involved in the installation including a new battery and replacement of out of date pads. We must also provide a small amount for contingencies.
The village funds have run down, not least because there was no fund raising during Covid.
We could wait, do some fundraising and then install the machine. I suggest that we have already waited for too long and I know from personal experience that serious heart difficulties do not wait for a convenient time or place to strike.
To cut to the chase, we need to raise £2,000 now. I make no apology in giving good news of this important development and at the same time asking you upfront if you are willing to make a donation, of whatever size, to make this happen.
As soon as I have commitments to cover the costs we will be able to get on with it. In the meantime, I have sent the machine away to be thoroughly checked and for the new battery and pads to be fitted.
Please let me know as soon as possible if you are able to make a contribution. Please feel free to either email or phone me. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to get hold of me. I will be around at the Doorstep Green tidy up this Wednesday and Saturday so do have a word if you want to.
I am very pleased to tell you that Maria (Treasurer) and Janet (Parish Clerk) and are fully behind this approach.
With all good wishes,
Ian
