2011 Hog Roast

The village Hog Roast was a victim of bad weather but despite the downpour it proved a big success.

On Saturday July 16th more than 150 people gathered for a Hog Roast on the Doorstep Green. uckily marquees had been erected on the green as it poured halfway through the evening.

As well as a hog roast and "pub on the green", the Hoxon Hundred morris dancers provided entertainment and Guide Dogs for the Blind - including “Edward the blind guide dog” as featured on TV - raised more than £250. Among those at the event were MP Dr Dan Poulter and guest of honour Lt Col Brent Vosseller and family.

Lt Col Vosseller, and his family were on the way back to the states for a stint in Alabama after being based at RAF Lakenheath, from where he served in Afghanistan. He first came to the Redlingfield last year when he spoke at the unveiling of the memorial to the crew of a B-17 which crashed in the village during WW2.
